What we do:
The main function of the Steering Committee is to provide continuity and support for the YLC. In particular this involves encouraging organizers of forthcoming YLCs, and supporting them in selecting subjects and speakers for the conference.

How the Steering Committee is constituted:
The organizers of the last three conferences are automatically invited. At least 4 other experts in the field of yeast lipidology (at least one of whom must work in USA/Canada) are invited through consultation with members of the yeast lipid community, which consists of principal investigators of all laboratories that participated in a recent YLC or are active in the field. A few months prior to each meeting. the chair of the YLC Steering Committee contacts this community to offer each principal investigator four votes to elect the Steering Committee. At least 4 members with the most votes are appointed, and others can be added by the newly elected members. Following its formation, the Steering Committee elects a Chair, and a Vice-Chair if desired.
