Steering committee:
What we do:
The main function of the Steering Committee is to provide continuity and support for the YLC. In particular this involves encouraging organizers of forthcoming YLCs, and supporting them in selecting subjects and speakers for the conference. The Steering Committee consists of 7-8 members, who are: the organizers of the last three conferences, and 4-5 experts in the field of yeast lipidology. Currently this latter group is elected a few months prior to each meeting by the members of the yeast lipid community, which consists of all principal investigators of laboratories that participated in at least one of the previous three YLCs. The chair of the YLC Steering Committee contacts this community to offer each principal investigator four votes to elect four members of the Steering Committee, at least one of whom must work in USA/Canada. A further member can be appointed by the newly elected members of the Steering Committee. Following the formation of the Steering Committee it elects a Chair, and a Vice-Chair if desired. The YLC Steering Committee serves until the next meeting, and considers how the Committee should be reconstituted next time (2 years later).
Elected: Tim Levine (London, Chair); George Carman (New Jersey); Miriam Greenberg (Michigan).
Previous Organizers: Inge van Bogaert (Gent), Jean-Marc Nicaud (Paris); Uroš Petrovič (Ljubljana).
Invited: Alenka Čopič (Montpelier) Christian Ungermann (Osnabrück).
